Accident investigators are to begin scouring the wreckage of a plane that crashed on takeoff in Madrid, killing 153 passengers.
19 people have survived the crash, some of them in critical condition. Authorities have recovered the two black box flight recorders but the cause of the disaster has not yet been determined. Witnesses said the jet veered off the runway during take-off, before breaking up and bursting into flames. Initial reports suggested there was a fire in one of the two engines on the MD-82 aircraft.
