The funeral of Russian writer Alexander Solzhenitsyn has begun in Moscow's Donskoi monastery cathedral.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is attending the ceremony, which follows an all-night vigil for the former dissident and Nobel laureate. Earlier, thousands of Russians paid tribute to Solzhenitsyn as his body lay in state inside the Russian Academy of Sciences. He died on Sunday at the age of 89.
