At least 28 people have been killed and over 50 injured in two suicide bombings north of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
A security official said bombers set off explosives in the midst of a crowd of potential recruits on an Iraqi army base in the town of Baquba, about 60 km away from Baghdad. One of the bombers is said of have worn an Iraqi military uniform. The attack comes ahead of an expected new crackdown by Iraqi forces against Al-Qaeda in the volatile Diyala region.
